SpaarFit

Led development of SpaarFit, the workplace vitality app that motivates and empowers employees to take charge of their own health and well-being.

The problem

Corporate wellness programmes fail in a predictable way: people sign up in the first week and stop by the third. The hard part is not delivering health content — that is abundant and free — it is sustaining participation long enough for any of it to matter.

Constraints

Employees are not a captive audience. Nobody is obliged to open a wellness app, so every friction point is an exit. It also had to reach people on whatever phone they already carried, which made two native codebases an expensive way to solve a distribution problem.

What I built

An app covering programmes across exercise, nutrition and mental health, with a rewards system as the retention mechanism — the deliberate answer to the drop-off problem above, rather than an afterthought bolted on for engagement metrics.

Built with NativeScript and Vue, so one codebase reached both platforms with native components rather than a wrapped web view. For a product whose main risk is people not opening it, feeling like a real app is not a detail.

Outcome

A wellness app employees returned to, which is the only measure that separates this category from a well-intentioned launch.
